AEMO announced on ABC News24 on Friday the 16th November that there is a high risk that South Australia and Victoria will have forced blackouts and load shedding during the 2019 summer.

With higher than normal temperatures and heatwaves forecasted for the summer, demand will be high. The drought is expected to continue, which is putting generation at risk – such as the Snowy Hydro and that gas/coal fired generators use steam to generate electricity.

AEMO did announce they had reserve power, but If reserves are to be used, then the costs will be passed onto businesses.
